Mapping the terrain between any two points on the Earth

To map the terrain between any two points on the Earth's surface you will need the following:

1.  Google Earth
2.  A web browser

Firstly open Google Earth and create two placemarks from the menu.




View the properties of each of the locations.





Each placemark has a Latitude and a Longitude.
You will need the Latitude and Longitude data later.




Open the webpage
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/profile_input
You will see an input form as shown below.




Set the options as appropriate and copy the Latitude and Longitude details into the Point fields as hown above.
You will see the page as shown below.




Click on Draw the profile



Save the .kmz file on your PC and open the file in Google Earth as below.





Now you have your path profile both in cross section and in plan view.
